Tottenham remain very keen on signing Liverpool attacker Cody Gakpo this summer, which suggests a deal to sign Bradley Barcola may soon be on the way.
According to Soccer News journalist Mounir Boualin, Spurs have made an official bid worth £60m to Liverpool for the 27-year-old.
Dutch journalist Joost Blaauwhof reports that a Tottenham deal to sign Gakpo is becoming increasingly likely.
He says: “All parties are increasingly convinced that Cody Gakpo’s move to Spurs is becoming a very realistic possibility. The chances of the deal going through are now looking high. However, Liverpool still have to agree. Roberto De Zerbi has remained firm until now. It’s Gakpo all the way.”
Blaauwhof also states that any move to sign Gakpo from Liverpool is in addition to their plans to sign Manchester City’s Savinho.
He reported on X: “Any potential arrival of Savinho at Spurs is entirely separate from the situation surrounding Cody Gakpo. Roberto De Zerbi has other roles in mind for the attackers from Manchester City and Liverpool. Difficult transfer, but the Oranje international remains a very important target.”

Liverpool must be confident they will sign Bradley Barcola if they’re willing to let Cody Gakpo leave
If Liverpool are willing to let Gakpo leave, they must be confident that they will soon reach an agreement with PSG for the transfer of Bradley Barcola.
Gakpo performed well below his previously high standards last season, and regular readers of Live4Liverpool will know that I was one of his biggest critics, but equally, I attribute most of the blame to the passive, predictable football Arne Slot had Liverpool playing.
I wrote an article on July 28 about how I believe Gakpo would be very good under Andoni Iraola’s guidance. I used these stats to suggest that last season’s form was an anomaly for the Dutchman:
Gakpo’s numbers under Klopp and Slot*:
2022/23: 20 goals and 20 assists (40 G/A)
2023/24: 16 goals and 7 assists (24 G/A)
2024/25: 18 goals and 7 assists (25 G/A)
2025/26: 9 goals and 6 assists (15 G/A)
Spurs will be getting a very good player, even if Gakpo was unable to make the most of last season. At the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, I fully expect him to return to his typical 20+ goals and assists per season and be a very valuable player for the Lily Whites.
