Everton confirm 2026/27 squad numbers — three changes worth noting
Everton have confirmed their squad numbers for the 2026/27 season, with the list subject to change before the summer transfer window shuts at 11pm on Tuesday, September 1.
The headline shifts sit around the club’s business this window.
Brennan Johnson takes the No.22 shirt following his swap deal with Crystal Palace, a number recently vacated by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Dewsbury-Hall has switched to No.8, previously worn by Orel Mangala before his loan spell ended — a number he’s said he associates with his academy days and sees as a natural fit in midfield.
Christian Nørgaard, a fresh arrival this summer, takes No.23.
Notably absent from the list: Jack Grealish, whose loan spell has ended, along with Idrissa Gueye, Seamus Coleman and Dwight McNeil, all departed this window.
Also notable, and maybe in the realm of wishful thinking, the No. 18 shirt, worn by Grealish last season, is still available.
Everton have also confirmed a shirt exchange scheme for fans caught out by the changes.
Supporters who bought a 2026/27 shirt between 2 July and 10 August featuring a player who has since switched numbers can exchange it for a replacement — like-for-like, home for home, away for away — at the Hill Dickinson Stadium store or Everton Two in Liverpool ONE.
The deadline is Friday, 21 August, with exchanges unavailable on matchdays. Fans unable to visit in person can email shirtnumbers@evertonfc.com.
