Cody Gakpo spoke to Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto de Zerbi last month and is open to leaving Liverpool this summer as a result.
Journalist Rik Elfrink reports – from a ‘generally well-informed source’ – that De Zerbi and Gakpo spoke last month regarding a departure from Anfield.

According to Elfrink’s information, the conclusion from that conversation between the Tottenham manager and Liverpool forward was that Cody Gakpo is ‘open to a move’ to Spurs.
Liverpool now appears to be willing to consider the sale of the 27-year-old. PSV Eindhoven are watching the situation closely too. There is ‘good money’ in the deal for the Dutch side according to Elfrink’s information.
Journalist Mounir Boualin, meanwhile, reports that Tottenham’s interest in Gakpo has been ongoing for several months.
This morning, they submitted an initial bid of €60m for the Liverpool forward. According to him ‘things are now in motion’ regarding a transfer.

This follows on from reports in the Netherlands today stating that Tottenham have made their move for the Liverpool man.
Sport Witness covered these, with Soccer News reporting that sources in England had confirmed Spurs’ bid. That bid was valued at €69m (£60m). Liverpool were believed to be taking it under consideration.
Journalist Joost Blaauwhof then reported that there was a growing belief between all parties that the move was becoming “very realistic”. Voetbal International backed that up, adding that there is an agreement in principle between Gakpo and Tottenham.
All of this is the latest step in Tottenham’s growing interest in the Dutchman. A report at the beginning of the month made it clear that a €60m+ bid was on the way.
Now it appears to have been made, the focus falls on Liverpool. Are they willing to lose another senior member of their squad, or do they sanction a sale and perhaps reinvest in the likes of Bradley Barcola?
