Liverpool is preparing a first offer to Paris Saint-Germain for Ibrahim Mbaye, according to reports, as the club ramps up efforts to improve the forward ranks.

It comes as the Reds have been considering the options available on the market, with Andoni Iraola pleading for more wingers before the transfer window closes at the start of next month. So far, Liverpool has signed Victor Munoz as a rotational depth option, but there is still work to be done to improve on both the left and right flank.

There is interest in Bradley Barcola from PSG for the left side, with the French international seemingly available as an option this summer as he enters the final two years of his contract.

While that interest has been there, talks have not seemingly progressed at this stage, with the valuation believed to be a stumbling block at this stage.

There is a difference between what Liverpool and PSG seemingly value Barcola at, which could see any move between the two sides come in the final few days of the market once a compromise is made.

In the case of Mbaye, however, the Reds appear keen to get a deal over the line sooner rather than later, with a move being prepared by the side.

L'Equipe journalist Loic Tanzi reports that Liverpool is expected to make a first official bid for the winger in the coming days, following PSG's recent flurry in transfer activity.

The Merseyside outfit is claimed to be the most active party in the race for the Senegalese international, who would add some quality and depth to the right wing position.

It's a move that is separate to the approach for Barcola, rather than a combined double swoop, with Liverpool still keen to get both deals over the line in the final few weeks of the transfer window.

The deal could help solve the lack of options on the right wing, though he and Barcola's move may be dependent on other switches within Iraola's team.

Cody Gakpo has been linked with a transfer switch to Tottenham, with reports claiming that personal terms have been agreed in principle.

That move could spark either or both deals in the final weeks of the transfer market, as Liverpool ramps up its activity to give the new head coach the best chance of succeeding.
