Owners Fenway Sports Group sanctioned the £1.65 billion deal which saw the Reds’ overall valuation rise to £5.5bn as a result of the investment.
Amit Bhatia has been installed as vice-chairman while Saverin’s wife Elaine and Bryan Baum from Bezos’s K5 Global vehicle also joined the board.
Although the ‘strategic’ transaction will not dilute FSG’s overall influence as power brokers at Liverpool, it has opened the door for a potential future sale.
Reports in the United States indicate that 1892 Holdings have the option of becoming the club’s majority shareholder within the next 12 months.
According to CNBC, the figure has been placed at £5.9bn, although it would still be conditional on FSG agreeing to sell their controlling shares in the club.
The Boston-based investment vehicle have been in power since 2010, when they acquired a £300M debt incurred by Tom Hicks and George Gillett.
Their premiership ushered in a new era of prosperity at Anfield both on and off the pitch with the club visibly transformed over the previous 16 years.
Two Premier League titles and the Champions League have been won during FSG’s time in charge while they have transformed the club’s core properties.
Anfield’s capacity now stands at over 61,000 after the renovation of the Main Stand and Anfield Road End while the AXA Training Centre was also opened.
FSG also committed to the growth of Liverpool Women by buying back the club’s original Melwood training complex for use by the WSL mainstays.
