The summer transfer window is nearing the final few weeks, and while Liverpool has already strengthened in defense, there could yet be more arrivals there.

There have been moves to sign Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, who adds depth at centre-back, while Ronald Araujo has joined on loan from Barcelona to help fill in at both centre-back and right-back.

There are still some concerns at right-back in particular, however, with persistent injury issues for Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong, while Araujo is only a short-term fix.

Plenty of long-term options have been linked with a switch to Liverpool, including Barcelona youngster Hector Fort, who is seemingly available before the transfer window closes on Sept. 1.

But just who is Fort? What has his journey up until this point been like? And what could Liverpool expect from the star? Here's a look at everything you need to know about him.

Hector Fort is a right-back who plays for Barcelona. The defender was born on August 2, 2006, making him 20 years old at the time of writing, and at the start of his professional playing career.

The youngster was born in Barcelona, starting his career with Anguera before he signed up with Barcelona's La Masia academy at the age of seven.

Career Path

Fort has spent his whole career as a permanent Barcelona player, coming through the academy ranks after signing with the club back in 2013.

The 20-year-old was handed a breakout opportunity for the B team in 2023, before making his senior debut the same year against Royal Antwerp in the Champions League.

In the time since, Fort has made 30 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions, before he made a loan switch to Elche for the 2025/26 campaign.

In that spell, the 20-year-old managed 17 appearances, with his time at the club being heavily impacted by a few injury issues, before he made a return to the Nou Camp.

Transfer chance

While Fort appears to have plenty of potential, Barcelona is believed to be open to an exit for the defender this summer, with teams eyeing up a deal.

Liverpool is among those keen on the right-back, which has proved to be a problem position, with the youngster having three years remaining on his contract with the Blaugrana.

Rivals Everton and Fulham are also involved in the mix, while Borussia Dortmund is claimed to be another potential landing spot for the youngster.
