NFL Rumors: Jaguars Could Still Trade Top Pick During 2026 Season

Reportedly, the Jacksonville Jaguars ‘turned down’ trade offers from multiple teams in the latest NFL rumors for former first-round pick wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. The former 2024 draft selection is coming off his worst season last year, finishing the campaign with 48 receptions for 707 yards and two touchdowns. However, he showed he could be an impactful player the previous season. During his rookie year, Thomas finished with 87 receptions for 1,282 receiving yards and ten receiving touchdowns.

The former LSU product was turning into WR1 for Trevor Lawrence and this offense until he became less effective. Last year, the Jaguars traded for former Las Vegas Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers to address the loss of two-way star Travis Hunter, who suffered a season-ending injury. The Athletic’s Jeff Howe put the trade rumors to rest, claiming the team isn’t looking to move the former first-rounder. Jaguars Head Coach Liam Coen spoke with Howe, explaining that the receiver isn’t on the trade block:

“It was just important to let him know we’re all in this thing together, and this is not coming from us,” he said to Howe.

NFL Rumors: Jaguars Could Still Trade Top Pick During 2026 Season

Is anything possible?

A trade could still be in the works. After all, the Jaguars extend Meyers the same year they traded him for. They were also willing to listen to offers during the 2026 NFL Draft, although Thomas remains in Jacksonville. The top pick is entering his third league season, and WR3 Parker Washington is eligible for a new contract. The Jaguars will likely prioritize Washington, but the third-year receiver isn’t worried about his future in Jacksonville:

“That put me in a good spot. You feel like they have enough respect for you to call and tell you stuff like that. That makes you want to be at your best for them or work even harder for them. That was super cool for them to do that,” Thomas told Howe.

With Washington entering his final year, there could be speculation if he receives a new long-term extension. The Jaguars aren’t trading any of their offensive weapons before Week 1, but that could change midway through the upcoming campaign.

What to Know

Speculation could pick up if the Jaguars are having a losing season. The team was willing to allow top RB Travis Etienne to walk this offseason, so what would make this situation any different? Jacksonville had arguably a successful year last season, and if that collapses in the upcoming campaign, expect this team to make changes.
