Chelsea striker Liam Delap has been linked with a loan move to Cesc Fabregas’ Como, and could see this move be the making of him as a top-level striker.

Delap currently sits fourth in the pecking order to be the number nine at Stamford Bridge, behind Joao Pedro, Danny Welbeck and Nicolas Jackson.

His struggles from the previous campaign have followed him into pre-season, even though he scored from the spot twice for a heavily-rotated side last time out.

Liam Delap could become breakout star under Cesc Fabregas

Playing under Fabregas will be an exciting prospect for any player, especially with the Serie A club set to feature in the Champions League next season.

This is a testament to how impressive Fabregas’ work on the training pitch has been, with him developing Nico Paz into one of the top youngsters in world football.

As per FootballTransfers‘ data, they rank Paz as the most similar player to Delap in world football, hinting he has all the tools to succeed under the Spaniard.

There was much relief at Como when they agreed a deal to keep hold of the youngster from Real Madrid, and he would be the main creative force behind Delap if he moved there.

The English striker should use Paz as a great example of what can happen from working under Fabregas, and a move to Como would be beneficial for him.

Delap has more chance of playing at Como than Chelsea

Regular minutes is the only real way that Delap is going to show improvement, and that is simply not on offer at Stamford Bridge right now.

He would find it far easier to break into the Como side, who currently have former Blue Alvaro Morata as their key striking option.

Not only will Delap fancy his chances at breaking into that side, he will also have the opportunity to learn from a veteran striker who has played for a number of top clubs.

The striker showed immense promise in the early stages of his career, however looks to have fallen victim of making the step up to a side like Chelsea too early in his career.
