Curtis Jones remains the subject of strong interest from Inter Milan, who have seen several bids rejected. Liverpool are reportedly seeking around £35m for the academy graduate, who is entering the final year of his contract.
Tottenham are also interested in Cody Gakpo. Meanwhile, several young players are set to leave on loan. According to WalesOnline, Liverpool defender Calum Scanlon is set to return to Cardiff City after spending the second half of last season on loan there.
The 21-year-old left-back impressed during his time in Wales, helping Cardiff secure promotion back to the Championship. His return is expected to be confirmed once the remaining paperwork is completed.
Scanlon featured in all three of Liverpool’s games during their USA pre-season tour before returning to the Under-21s squad. He is entering the final year of his contract and is expected to sign a new deal.
Liverpool signed Scanlon from Birmingham City in February 2021. The England Under-19 international made his senior debut against Toulouse in the Europa League in October 2023 and signed a new contract in April 2024.
He subsequently joined Millwall on loan but saw his spell cut short by injury. In February 2026, he moved to Cardiff City on loan to gain further first-team experience.
Liverpool could still view Scanlon as part of their long-term plans, particularly with Kostas Tsimikas expected to serve as second choice this upcoming season before potentially leaving on a free transfer.
However, much will depend on Scanlon’s performances during his loan spell and his own ambitions as he continues to develop at senior level.
