Alexis Mac Allister's long-term future at Liverpool is uncertain, with the midfielder continuing to attract interest from several clubs in the transfer market.
The Argentina international is now in the final two years of his contract at Anfield, which has led to some discussion over his place in the team for years to come.
The 27-year-old has faced a mixed year or so, struggling in the Premier League with Liverpool but impressing in the World Cup with his national team making the final but missing out on the ultimate prize at the last hurdle. Since the end of that tournament, links have persisted over a transfer. Real Madrid was initially rumored with interest, before the latest links with Manchester City.

Mac Allister's father, Carlos, has ruled out a possible exit this summer by claiming that the full focus is on Liverpool and the challenge ahead under new head coach Andoni Iraola.
That stance extends to Liverpool, as TeamTalk reports that the club is keen to keep Mac Allister for the foreseeable future and won't entertain a transfer.
With that stance ruling out an exit, the other doubt over the midfielder comes down to his contract situation and the dwindling deal he is tied down to.
The same report adds that Liverpool has planned talks with Mac Allister's camp for later this year to discuss the possibility of an extension to the deal, with the club open to giving the star an improved set of terms that reflect his standing in the team.

Interest will remain from the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City, and even Chelsea, but there is seemingly a clear desire from all involved to get a deal done at Liverpool for the future.
It remains to be seen what that could look like and whether the talks will help secure an extension, but it would certainly help solidify the midfield for the seasons ahead.
Liverpool has already moved quickly to secure long-term contracts for Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai, while Florian Wirtz signed a similar deal when he joined the club last summer.
Youngster Trey Nyoni is another with a secured future at Anfield, having signed a deal until 2030 last year, showing the strength in depth that Iraola now has to call up on in the central ranks.
There are doubts over others, such as Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott, who have just one year remaining on their own contracts, though there is clear hope that Mac Allister won't reach that point.
It sets up a dull end to the transfer window for the Argentina international, but perhaps a long-term ambition of staying at Liverpool once it closes.
