49ers hold tryouts with 3 defensive backs after a trio of injuries at the position

The San Francisco 49ers had tryouts with three defensive backs after the news that Nate Hobbs (groin), Jack Jones (hand), and Marques Sigle (oblique) suffered injuries this past week.

One was Troy Pride, a 5’11, 195-pound cornerback out of the 2020 NFL Draft. He was drafted in the fourth round. Pride was last with the Cowboys in 2020.

Another was Corey Mayfield, a 5’10”, 200-pound cornerback who was most recently in the UFL in 2026, where he had four interceptions.

The final player was Bryce Hall, a fifth-round pick of the Jets out of the 2020 NFL Draft. Hall, 6’1”, 202 pounds, was last with the Bucs in 2024. He has the most NFL experience and had a fine season way back in 2021 with New York.

According to the NFL’s transaction wire, there were also six official number changes, most of which we are already aware:

Kaelon Black from 25 to 26

Jacob Cowing from 19 to 6

Will Pauling from 4 to 84

Eddy Pineiro from 15 to 18
