Bristol City are targetting a loan move for Liverpool winger Kieran Morrison but are being rivalled by German side Wolfsburg, according to Pete O’Rourke.
Bristol City will be looking to make a winning start to their Championship season this weekend. The Robins have had a strong transfer window making some headline signings, including Lorent Tolaj and Dom Ballard.
However, their business is not done there, according to Pete O’Rourke. He has said that Bristol City are hoping to sign Liverpool winger Kieran Morrison on loan.
The Robins are not alone in that race with German side Wolfsburg also in the hunt. Despite being one of Germany’s biggest clubs, Wolfsburg were relegated from the Bundesliga last season.
Morrison has impressed in pre-season with Liverpool, leading to the interest in him. He scored for the first-team against Sunderland as part of the Merseyside outfits pre-season tour of America.
Why is their interest from Bristol City in Kieran Morrison?
The youngster started in Manchester United’s academy before joining Liverpool at U14 level in 2019. He progressed quickly, debuting for the U18s in September 2022 and moving up to the U21s in January 2023.
He signed a scholarship in 2023 and his first professional contract in February 2024. His breakthrough came in 2025/26, where he stood out for the U21s in Premier League 2.
He scored 14 goals, added several assists, captained the side at times, won PL2 Player of the Month in January 2026, and was shortlisted for Player of the Season.
His form led to senior involvement, making his first-team debut in an EFL Cup loss to Crystal Palace in October 2025 and appearing off the bench in an FA Cup win over Wolves. He has also trained regularly with the first team and been included in Champions League squads.
The Verdict: Bristol City are taking a big risk with their new additions
Bristol City’s summer recruitment has brought plenty of potential, but there is one notable concern: a lack of Championship experience among their new arrivals.
The additions of Ballard and Tolaj give the Robins greater competition in attack and add some much-needed goals. It would also continue the club’s strategy of signing promising players with room to develop at Ashton Gate.

Gibson Yah has also arrived, with the imposing midfielder stepping into English football after building his reputation in the Netherlands. Meanwhile, Sam Tickle has earned plenty of praise for his performances at Wigan Athletic but is also stepping into the Championship without extensive experience at this level.
Michael Skubala is coming into his first year as a CHamionship boss too. That could prove a risk for Bristol City, particularly if they are relying on several newcomers to make an immediate impact.
