A YOUNG boy from Wrexham has taken on a thrilling abseil down the home of Liverpool FC, to raise money for the children's hospice that supports his little sister.

Albie Clark, 10, from Gresford, descended the iconic Anfield stadium earlier this month in support of Hope House Children's Hospices, which has cared for his seven-year-old sister Elsie and supported the whole family. So far his total stands at more than £1,000.

Elsie has complex medical needs and receives support from Hope House, helping the family make the most of every moment together.

When Albie, a pupil at All Saints' School in Gresford, was given the opportunity to take part in the charity abseil challenge, he jumped at the chance.

His mum, Jenny Clark, said: "The care and support that Hope House provides for Elsie has also meant so much to Albie. Because they care for Elsie, we've been able to spend quality one-to-one time with him, taking him on days out, holidays and making special memories together that otherwise wouldn't have been possible.

"As parents of a child with complex needs, it's so easy for siblings to miss out, but thanks to Hope House, Albie has never had to.

"We will always be incredibly grateful for the support they've given our whole family, and this fundraiser is our way of saying thank you while helping them continue their amazing work for other families like ours.

"Thank you so much to everyone who donated to Albie's page, it really does mean the world. We are incredibly proud of Albie for completing the challenge. He might have been a bit nervous at the top, but he finished the abseil like a champ."

Funds raised through Albie's abseil will help Hope House continue providing specialist care, respite and support for local children with life-threatening conditions and their families.

Bethan Young, fundraiser at Hope House said: "What an amazing challenge for Albie to complete, we are blown away. This is quite the achievement for most people but is an especially big one for a 10-year-old. Thank you, Albie, for being so brave and raising lots of money."
