Mikel Arteta has sent a clear message over his Arsenal contract as the Gunners manager enters the final season of his current deal.
Arteta’s future had been expected to be resolved over the summer, but no extension has yet been announced after Arsenal concentrated on strengthening the squad ahead of their Premier League title defence.
The Spaniard has now moved to reassure supporters. Speaking ahead of Sunday’s Community Shield against Manchester City, Arteta told The Guardian that he remains extremely happy in north London.
“I want to be here,” Arteta said when asked about his future.
His current agreement runs until the end of the 2026/27 season after he signed a three-year extension in September 2024.

Mikel Arteta contract stance gives Arsenal clarity
Arsenal had been expected to reward Arteta with another lucrative extension this summer following last season’s Premier League triumph.
However, the 44-year-old explained that other priorities have taken precedence during a busy transfer window.
Arteta nevertheless believes his contract situation is “not going to be an issue”, adding that he feels Arsenal share his desire to continue working together.
That provides some welcome certainty before another demanding campaign.
Arteta has transformed Arsenal since taking charge in December 2019 and is now preparing to defend the club’s first Premier League title in 22 years.
His immediate attention is on Manchester City.
