A new study pegs a family game outing at over $2,100 and highlights strong demand, while Illinois leaders, Chicago's mayor and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell quietly continue talks about keeping the team in Chicago amid a strong push toward a new stadium in Hammond, Indiana.

Chicagoans come together to help victims of Colombia earthquake (cbsnews.com) β Chicago-area residents are organizing donation drives and a police-led fundraiser to support families in Colombia after a deadly 7.4 magnitude earthquake. You can drop off specific supplies in Melrose Park and attend an Aug. 23 West Loop event, where all proceeds will go toward earthquake relief efforts.

Chicago police searching for 4 suspects after man beaten with own cane, stomped on in South Shore (abc7chicago.com) β Chicago police are asking for the public's help identifying four people who allegedly beat a man with his own cane and stomped on him in broad daylight on South Constance Avenue in South Shore. The attack happened August 2, and investigators have released suspect photos while urging anyone with information to contact police.

Pritzker tours storm damage, signs flood relief bill expanding local Chicago programs (chronicleillinois.com) β Chicago homeowners hit by flooding could soon get up to $1,000 back for repairs under a new three-year rebate program Gov. J.B. Pritzker just signed into law. The bill expands two existing home equity assurance districts in the city, while broader storm damage and political sparring over disaster response continue across Cook County and the rest of Illinois.

Man robbed in Chicago, bound and gagged, found on porch in Harvey, police say (abc7chicago.com) β A man who police say was robbed in Chicago was later found bound and gagged on a Harvey porch Friday afternoon, prompting a joint investigation with Chicago police. The victim, a dialysis patient in his late 30s to early 40s, was taken to a hospital for evaluation as authorities work to determine where in Chicago the robbery occurred.
