Everton ‘still there’ amid competition for signing – ‘Very intense contact’

Barcelona’s Héctor Fort is on the exit ramp and Everton are among the clubs battling to sign him this summer.

The right-back hasn’t cemented a place in the first team, after graduating from the La Liga winners’ academy. Last season, he was on loan at Elche CF and failed to feature regularly.

Fort, who has returned to the club, has no future at the Camp Nou and several clubs, including Everton, are keen on signing him.

Competition growing

Two days ago, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that Everton are pushing ahead of Liverpool and Fulham in the race to sign the 20-year-old.

The latest claims elsewhere have talked about Borussia Dortmund’s interest. Sport relays it and covers the latest on Héctor Fort’s situation.

Hansi Flick has left him out of his core plans for the new season. Therefore, Barcelona have made the Spain U20 international train alone, to avoid injuries which could impact his summer exit.

The Catalan club’s intention is to resolve his future quickly as interest continues to grow.

Everton not giving up

Inter Milan are close to signing Tottenham Hotspur’s Djed Spence and are no longer keen on Héctor Fort.

On the other hand, Everton’s ‘interest is still there’.

Last summer, the Blaugrana sanctioned a loan move and are looking to sell him in this window. Their plan is to retain a parentage of his rights and also secure a sell-on clause.

Fort’s contract expires in 2029, and Transfermarkt value him at €12m. However, Barca are valuing him at an ‘inflated price’ of €15m and it could rise to €20m depending on other conditions.

Sport states: ‘In any case, contact in recent days have been very intense, and offers continue to pour in. Héctor Fort is a target for many teams due to his youth (20 years old), potential, and footballing quality.’

There’s no indication of the player’s preference or whether David Moyes’ side are willing to pay €15m.
