Thus, the former Manchester City forward has left Barcelona at the summit of his career, as one of the most memorable moments of his playing career came only around a month ago, when he scored the only goal in the World Cup final against Argentina to give Spain their second World Cup title.
The Parisians have paid the Catalans €50 million for this transfer, and there is no doubt that, economically, this is a very good deal. The Blaugranes have got a significant sum for a player who had only one year left on his contract. Furthermore, if the transfer fee had gone over €55 million, they would have been obliged to give a part of it to Manchester City.
However, with Robert Lewandowski already having left and Julian Alvarez not having been signed yet, this leaves Hansi Flick short of options for the center of attack. Still, the income from this operation would be helpful in strengthening the team, particularly with the signing of Rodri Hernandez.
