Chelsea have officially completed the signing of highly rated Kazakhstan international Dastan Satpayev from FC Kairat, with the teenage forward immediately heading out on loan to Burnley for the 2026/27 Championship season.

The 18-year-old’s long-awaited move to Stamford Bridge has now been formalised after the original agreement was reached in 2025. Satpayev has signed a contract with Chelsea through to 2033 and will spend the upcoming campaign at Turf Moor, where he will look to continue his rapid development in English football.

Satpayev arrives in England with considerable excitement surrounding his potential. He came through Kairat’s academy and made his senior debut at just 15, establishing himself as one of the most promising young players to emerge from Kazakhstan in recent years. He has also already broken into the senior national team.

The forward’s versatility is another attractive quality. Capable of operating centrally or from wider attacking positions, Satpayev possesses the pace and directness to cause problems for defenders, while his willingness to attack space should suit the demands of English football.

Opinion: Why Burnley is the right move for Satpayev

CHELSEA may have been the dream destination, but going straight into their first-team squad at 18 would have brought enormous pressure and potentially limited opportunities. At Burnley, the situation is very different.

The Championship should provide Satpayev with a demanding but valuable environment in which he can experience regular senior football, physical competition and the intensity of the English game. Rather than spending a season primarily training and waiting for occasional opportunities, he has the chance to play meaningful minutes and develop week after week.

Just as importantly, Burnley gives him an opportunity to learn how to handle the expectations that come with playing for a club fighting for promotion. That experience could prove invaluable when he eventually returns to Chelsea.

The move therefore makes sense for all three parties. Burnley get an exciting young attacker, CHELSEA can monitor his progress in a competitive environment, and Satpayev gets exactly what an 18-year-old prospect needs most: regular first-team football and time to adapt.
