Bengals defensive tackle cleared to practice

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle B.J. Hill has passed his physical and is cleared to practice, the team announced Saturday morning.

Hill was placed on the active/physically unable to perform (PUP) list at the start of training camp on July 25.

His return is a major boost to the defensive line.

Hill has been a cornerstone of the Bengals’ defensive front since arriving in Cincinnati five years ago.

He was acquired on August 30, 2021, in a trade with the New York Giants in exchange for former first-round center Billy Price—a move that has since been widely viewed as a major success for the Bengals.

Since joining Cincinnati, Hill has been highly durable and productive, playing in 81 games (67 starts) over the past five seasons (2021–2025).

He played a key role during the Bengals’ Super Bowl LVI run in his first year with the team and has since anchored the interior defensive line, contributing 20.0 sacks during his tenure in Cincinnati.

Originally drafted by the New York Giants in the third round (69th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft out of NC State, Hill spent his first three professional seasons in New York.

Over his eight-year NFL career, the 31-year-old veteran has played in 129 career regular-season games, totaling 407 tackles, 27.5 sacks, and 16 passes defensed.
