Alonso described walking out at Stamford Bridge as an emotional moment and said he was delighted with the welcome given to both himself and his new coaching staff.
The Chelsea manager now wants that early goodwill to develop into something much more important over the course of the season.
“We want to create good connections and have that support,” Alonso said after the match.
He believes producing attractive football and giving supporters something to respond to can create the type of Stamford Bridge atmosphere capable of becoming a genuine advantage for Chelsea.
