Andrée Jeglertz hailed City’s mentality after the Blues earned a 2-2 draw with Barcelona in preseason.
The reigning European champions raced into a two-goal lead at the Joie Stadium when Caroline Graham Hansen drilled home before Vicky Lopez doubled their lead before the break.
Following the interval, however, Alex Greenwood pulled a goal back when she collected Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s pass before dispatching confidently and Grace Clinton then levelled following her fine finish inside the area.
With the Blues facing an uphill task at half-time to find our way back into the friendly, Jeglertz’s explained how his players’ composure enabled the second-half fight back.
CITY V BIRMINGHAM: GET YOUR TICKETS
“It was a very good Barcelona in the first half. They played through us a couple times, we were a little bit late and we struggled with our defending I would say,” City’s Head Coach said.
“But we changed a couple of things in the second half and the start of the second half is very good and then comes a lot of substitutions that causes a little bit of a hectic half an hour.
“In general, the positive is coming back in this game and players not losing their heads, not getting stressed and pretty calm anyway. Scoring two goals is great.
“The negative is a little bit in the first half when we struggle when they played a little bit too easy through us and we lost a couple of duels. They are very good and we struggled with that.
“Otherwise, the second half is much better.”
