Saints Rumors: N.O. Expected to Cut Top Pick; 5 Teams Emerge

Without any surprise, the latest New Orleans Saints rumors and projections suggest the team could cut former third-round pick and running back Kendre Miller before Week 1. Miller, a former 2023 draft selection, spent the past three NFL seasons in New Orleans. Unfortunately, he was unable to prove that he’s an effective ball-carrier, accumulating 127 rushing carries for 497 yards and 3 touchdowns, alongside 20 receptions for 267 receiving yards. After the team signed former Jacksonville Jaguar Travis Etienne this offseason, the former third-rounder is at the bottom of the depth chart.

Miller had his opportunity throughout the past three campaigns, especially serving under Alvin Kamara as RB2. However, the running back will compete with Devin Neal, Audric Estime, Ty Chandler and undrafted rookie CJ Donaldson. The former TCU product finds himself in a hole, and the safest decision for New Orleans is to release him.

What the Future Holds

The third-round pick will probably have to battle for an RB3 spot for another team this upcoming campaign. If he doesn’t show improvement during this year’s preseason, it’s safe to say his time is done. He could join a practice squad and work his way back up. However, the chances of generating interest once released are slim.

Despite that, there are always teams looking to add running back depth. Luckily for the former TCU product, these five teams may give him one more shot.
