Enzo Maresca says he’s relishing the opportunity to help Ryan McAidoo develop with the First Team.
The Italian spoke ahead of the Community Shield as he takes charge of the first team in his first competitive clash.
Having coached our Elite Development squad and led them to a first-ever Premier League 2 title in 2020/21, Maresca understands the development of young talent and pathway more than anyone.
And after seeing McAidoo in pre-season action against Inter Milan, our new manager is excited about how he will flourish at City.
“I think for him the best thing is to stay with us, to learn, be around first-team everyday,” he said.
“Try to be clever, try to be intelligent, try to learn from Antoine, from Jeremy, from the ones we have in this moment here.
“And when I say try to learn it’s not how to dribble, but also in terms of attitude, how to work hard, because sometimes it’s difficult because they can stop the work just because they feel they are ready and they are not.
“So it’s good that they continue to learn.”
