Bears chairman George H. McCaskey talks Bears on preseason broadcast

McCaskey then discussed the excitement brewing around the 2026 Bears following last season's NFC North-winning campaign.

"It was a great ride," McCaskey said of the 2025 season. "It ended a little too soon. Miraculous, unbelievable, stupendous, but ultimately we fell short. We've gotta go further."

McCaskey also looked ahead to the 2026 season, saying: "There's a good buzz. A lot of people are excited. There's a lot of anticipation, but coach Johnson has made it clear he's not going to let people get complacent. There's a lot of work to do."

Much of that anticipation stems from quarterback Caleb Williams' breakout sophomore season, which included him setting the single-season franchise passing record with 3,942 yards.

"Great kid, wants to be great himself," McCaskey said. "Terrific relationship with coach Johnson. His teammates love him. He's a hard worker. We're expecting big things from him."
