Liverpool are set to ramp up their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye, according to reports in France.
L’Equipe reporter Loic Tanzi claims that the Reds are likely to “send a first offer” for the 18-year-old “in the coming days.”
PSG are set to clinch the signing of Ajax forward Mika Godts, having already sealed deals for Ferran Torres and Maghnes Akliouche.
Mbaye is now miles down the pecking order for starting opportunities, and it appears that Andoni Iraola’s side now see it as the right time to swoop in.
Liverpool had been put off by his asking price
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has previously said that the Merseyside club have cooled their interest in Mbaye, as they believe he is too “expensive”.
It is not known whether they have had a change of heart, or whether they believe PSG are now willing to let the teenager go for a lower amount than their original valuation.
Some reports have suggested that the European champions were demanding more than €40m (£34m) for Mbaye.

Other clubs have been linked with Mbaye
When the news first broke that the Reds were pursuing the Senegalese international, it was reported that Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham had also made enquiries, along with Bundesliga sides Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.
That would suggest that others may table bids for Mbaye if Iraola’s team do decide to make the first move. It should be pointed out, though, that Spurs are also keen on Cody Gakpo, while City may only make an offer if they offload Savinho (who is also on Spurs’s shortlist).
Chelsea, meanwhile, are focused on sales, and it is not known whether Leverkusen or Dortmund would have the funds to match PSG’s price.
