Newcastle United boss Matthias Jaissle has insisted he would not hesitate to give Mason Miley his Premier League debut against Liverpool next weekend - but expects "changes" before next Sunday's huge clash.
The 17-year-old Academy product is the major success story of pre-season after failing to put a foot wrong against Champions League opponents Bayer Leverkusen and showing he can do it on the big stage.
Jaissle made a point in pulling Stanley lad Miley over for a hug after making a man of the match debut alongside his big brother Lewis, but going off with cramp after running himself into the ground.
After the game Jaissle singled out the youth team midfielder - who isn't even playing in his primary position - for praise and used his as an example to the senior pros.
When asked about Mason Miley, Jaissle told Chronicle Live: "I was really happy. Mason did an amazing job, a young lad, suffering cramps, we mentioned it in the locker room that this is the attitude we need.
"Suffering until the end until the tank is empty, great attitude so I am really happy for him."
Newcastle hope to tie up Amar Dedic in a £25m deal from Benfica in time for Liverpool but even if that deal goes through Miley would arguably be in the box seat to face the Reds on form.

The youngster has overtaken Leo Shahar in pre-season although the ex-Wolves youngster gets his opportunity to impress against Strasbourg today.
When asked if he would play Miley junior against Liverpool, Jaissle said: "There is still time before the Liverpool game. We have to wait to see, but as you saw against Leverkusen, he has the right heart and the right quality to do well.
"Definitely. If he is doing well, why not? But as I say there is still some time before Liverpool and a couple of days in the transfer market.
"His brother (Lewis) can also play in that position, so let's see what happens until Liverpool."
As St James' Park closed for the night, Newcastle were looking to wrap up a deal for Bosnian defender Dedic and try to force a deal for Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich.
Jaissle was irked by the volume of transfer questions but said: "There will be some changes for sure (in the transfer market). It’s important there something done, and I hope we see it soon."
