Paris Saint-Germain have lowered their asking price for Liverpool transfer target Bradley Barcola from £145m to £125m, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.
However, the journalist claims the Reds are still reluctant to do a deal for that figure, and they are hoping PSG will reduce their demands even further before the transfer window closes:
“I’ve been told this morning that could come down a bit to £125m. That would equal the Premier League record fee that Liverpool paid for Alexander Isak. I don’t think they have the appetite even to go that high for Barcola, but PSG are bringing in reinforcements out wide.”
“Ferran Torres is a done deal; he won’t be the only new arrival either. If that does happen, then surely they are going to have to lose someone, and that’s maybe where Liverpool are maybe waiting in the wings for Bradley Barcola. So just be a little bit patient, Liverpool fans, this one is certainly not dead, but they are not going to pay £145m or even £125m.”
It’s a game of brinkmanship between Liverpool and PSG
Understandably, Barcola‘s club are hoping to get as much as possible for the France international, but sporting director Richard Hughes is banking on them blinking prior to the deadline on September 1st.
With such an approach, there is always a danger that the deal will be hijacked, and PSG will certainly be hoping that another suitor will come in and match their current asking price.
However, as things stand, Arsenal don’t appear to be interested in making a move for Barcola, with the Gunners likely to have been put off by the price tag as well.
Barcola is waiting for a breakthrough
The winger missed PSG’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday due to illness, but some expect he may have not played to protect himself from injury.
Barcola is believed to have already agreed personal terms with Liverpool, so he is seemingly in the same boat as Reds fans – waiting for a breakthrough in talks.
