Arsenal score fastest ever Community Shield goal as Riccardo Calafiori opens scoring

Mikel Arteta backs Enzo Maresca to do ‘great job’ at Man City

In a move straight from kick-off, Myles Lewis-Skelly played a beautiful pass into the area where Calafiori fired it into the back of the net after just 24 seconds.

The Italian full-back’s goal is the fastest in the competition and the first in the opening minute of a clash since Bobby Owen for Manchester City in 1968.

Arsenal went on to win 3-0 after Kai Havertz doubled the North London side’s lead and Martin Odegaard sealed the victory shortly after half-time.

This year’s edition takes place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, relocated from its usual home at Wembley due to a series of concerts by The Weeknd at the London venue.
