Liam Delap is still being heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea.
Xabi Alonso personally decided to leave out five Chelsea players from Saturday’s 3-1 win over Real Sociedad, and Delap was one of them.
The 23-year-old was already playing second fiddle to Joao Pedro, but he could now drop further down the striker pecking order at Stamford Bridge following the arrival of Danny Welbeck.

Everton could be perfect for Liam Delap
Everton were interested in signing Delap before his move from Ipswich Town to Chelsea last summer, and the Toffees still appear to be keen on the centre-forward.
In fact, according to TEAMtalk, they have held talks with Chelsea about a deal and are the frontrunners for the player’s signature.
A lot still needs to happen before Delap joins Everton, but if a transfer does materialise, the Hill Dickinson Stadium could be the perfect destination for the Englishman.

Delap will be better suited to David Moyes’ physical and direct style, while Everton fans are more likely to appreciate, let us say, the No.9’s “combative” approach to games.
Goodison Park loved old-fashioned type of players, direct wingers and big and strong physical centre-forwards. Delap is definitely the latter.

Who else is interested in Liam Delap?
Despite a difficult 2025/26 season, Delap does have suitors. Plenty of interest is there.
Cesc Fabregas’ Como are another side who are thought to be keen on the former Ipswich man. Delap joining Como could also be a good move, as the Serie A outfit will be in the Champions League this term.
However, it is believed that the former Ipswich man wants to remain in the Premier League in a boost to Everton.
Whether it is Everton, Como or someone else, Delap needs to join another club this summer. It has not worked out for him at Chelsea, and he is not going to be a starter, especially if Pedro can carry his pre-season form into the new campaign.
