Liverpool secured a deserved 2-0 win against Como at Anfield to step up their preparations for the new season.
The game was special for Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo, who both made their Liverpool debuts in front of a packed Anfield crowd.
And it’s safe to say they fared quite well as Andoni Iraola singled them out for special praise after the game, as was the case for Jeremie Frimpong.
Andoni Iraola lauds Liverpool trio
While Jacquet scored in the first half and showed his calmness on the ball, Araujo was assured after coming on in the second half.
Frimpong produced his best performance of pre-season and was lively in attack while also defending resolutely.
“Jeremy played very well and also Araujo,” said the Spaniard after the game.
“By the way, very good performance from Jeremie Frimpong. Some very good performances at the back.”
Andoni Iraola:
“We needed a little bit of this feeling of winning the game and getting the clean sheet. The first half was still better than the second. But we found the way and win the game. We needed this feeling before we start.”

“We were better than we were last week but I hope next week we are better than today. We need to keep these fitness levels high.
“We need to keep this focus on not making this mistake. But the second half we have to be better.
“I think everyone understands: every minute, every action, we need the commitment.
“I am happy with the attitude of the players. I’m asking a little bit different for the players; they are slowly getting it. I’m happy with the attitude.”
The boss likes what he’s seeing from his players, and the players seem to be loving life under his tutelage. Promising signs, for sure.
