The figures behind La Liga champions Barcelona’s deal with Manchester City for the signing of Rodri have come to the fore online. This comes amid confirmation that the Blaugrana have agreed to spend big to land their man.
The name of midfielder Rodri has of course taken its place front and centre in the media headlines across all of Europe on Sunday evening.
After weeks of back and forth between the two parties, the respective boards at the aforementioned Barcelona and Man City finally reached a definitive agreement over the terms of a big-money transfer.
Despite Rodri’s contract in Manchester having been due to expire in the summer of 2027, Joan Laporta and the Camp Nou brass agreed to meet the considerable demands laid out by City for a player who just two years ago secured the Ballon d’Or.
Journalist David Ornstein has since revealed the precise breakdown of the sum involved, as follows:
€76.5m total fee
€60m guaranteed
€11m+ highly achievable bonuses
€5m more difficult to attain bonuses
