Arsenal have signed Newcastle United’s captain this summer, swooping in for Bruno Guimaraes. Incidentally, the Brazilian midfielder has already gotten his first taste of silverware with the club, having won the Community Shield following a 3-0 win over Manchester City at the weekend.
It is worth pointing out that [Newcastle United](https://readnewcastle.com/2026/08/16/newcastle-united-reach-christopher-nkunku-agreement/) still need to make more additions to their squad. Pre-season has been a constant struggle for them, as they have lost most of their games.
New manager Matthias Jaissle has come under difficult circumstances and has a mountain to climb. And the least the club can do is hand him some quality players to work with.
So far, Newcastle United have largely signed quality youngsters this summer. Most of them might not be ready to make an immediate impact though. As a result, the idea of signing some proven Premier League players has to be considered. Could one of them be from Arsenal?
There are a number of players at Arsenal who might not get the playing time they think they deserve next season. Gabriel Martinelli could be one such player.
Once considered one of Arsenal’s most important players, over the years, he has slipped down the pecking order as they have gotten better as a team under Mikel Arteta.
As a result, it might be time to move on. It is believed that Galatasaray have already put in a bid in the region of €45 million for the Brazilian international.
On the other hand, a team like Newcastle United have been urged to make a move. According to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/arsenal/aston-villa-and-newcastle-backed-to-make-gabriel-martinelli-moves-as-arsenal-price-revealed), Stefan Borson said:
> “On the face of it, it’s a relatively low fee, and it’s a surprise that there’s not more teams that are in for him.

> “If he doesn’t want to go to Turkey, who else is offering? I guess the tier of team that would ordinarily want him would be an Aston Villa or a Newcastle United.

> “Maybe they just don’t have the capacity to be able to do that deal. He’s a player that it feels like a number of Premier League clubs could use him, especially for that sort of fee.
>
> “If it’s €45m (£38m), there really should be a number of teams that could do the deal.”
Is this the right time to make a move for Martinelli? On one hand, he has played 278 games for Arsenal and scored 62 goals in that time. So, the experience and proven quality are clearly there.
On the other hand, Martinelli is still just 25 years of age. So, he has not even entered his prime yet. And a €45 million transfer fee would be very reasonable for this profile.
It is also thought that he does not want to move to Turkey at this point in his career. That does open up the window of opportunity for clubs like Newcastle United to make their move for the Brazilian winger.
At the same time, many might feel that we have already seen what Martinelli’s ceiling is. That being said, he is more first-team-ready than most players at the club right now. If you ask me, it should be a no-brainer.
