Fans Say “I’ve Never Seen This” As NFL Rookie Quits The League To Pursue Acting Career

After playing college football at Nebraska, Ceyair Wright was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an un-drafted free agent in April.

Off the field, Wright’s passion for acting clashed with his passion for football. As a result, Wright has left the Bengals in order to pursue other opportunities and has been placed on the Exempt/Left Squad.

Dan Hoard, the Bengals‘ radio voice, reported on X that Wright left the team for television and film work. Zac Taylor responded to the departure of Wright.

“I don’t know how to properly define it for him. He called us last night and let us know that he had an opportunity,” Taylor said. “I know it was a difficult decision for him. I think two things he’s really passionate about were colliding and he decided to pursue this opportunity. So, he’s a great kid, comes from a great university.

“We wish him the best. He was fun to be around. He really competed hard for us. It was fun watching him play. I thought he was ascending as a player. But, obviously, he’s chosen to go a different path.”

As an actor, Wright has some major roles under his belt. As LeBron James’ son, Wright appeared in the movie “Space Jam: A New Legacy.” He also appeared in the television sitcom “Grown-ish” and “2 Broke Girls.”

As a replacement for Wright, the Bengals signed Matthew McDoom.
