Depot After Dark

A Steelers Depot daily segment. A quick hit of some Pittsburgh Steelers-related stories that may not require a complete article but nuggets worth mentioning and passing on to you guys.

Your Depot After Dark for Aug. 16.

FORMER STEELERS RB JOINS RAVENS

Running back Jonathan Ward briefly played for the Steelers in 2024. He appeared in four games for them, carrying the ball five times for 22 years. Ward entered the league in 2020 as an undrafted free agent with the Arizona Cardinals. He didn’t appear in a game last year, but he bounced around between a few teams, including the Baltimore Ravens.

While Ward became a free agent after the season ended, the Ravens announced that they’ve re-signed. It remains to be seen if he’ll stick on their 53-man roster, but it’s clear that they like something about him. We’ll see if he gets any action with Baltimore during the regular season.

SAINTS WR HURT

The Steelers have the honor of playing in the NFL’s first regular-season game in Paris this year. They’ll make the trek in Week 7, and they’ll face off against the New Orleans Saints in that matchup. While that game is still a few months away, the Saints might have some issues leading up to it.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported on Twitter that Saints rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson is dealing with a hamstring issue that will cause him to miss time. Tyson was the Saints’ first-round pick this year, and he figures to be a big part of their offense. It’s unclear how long Tyson will be out, but he’s got a long injury history. This isn’t the news that he or the Saints want to hear.

Saints rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson has a right hamstring issue and will miss time, according to Saints coach Kellen Moore.

BRISKER GIVES KIDS ADVICE

Jaquan Brisker was a second-round pick by the Chicago Bears in 2022. However, he’s originally from Pittsburgh, and he’s never forgotten his roots. Brisker became a free agent this offseason, and he signed with the Steelers, his hometown team. While he hasn’t played in a game with the Steelers yet, he’s already trying to establish himself as a good role model off the field.

Radio station 93.7 The Fan shared a video on Twitter of Brisker talking to the local high school football team that attended Steelers practice on Sunday. He also gave some insight into what he told the kids. Brisker was once in their shoes, so it’s nice to see him giving back and trying to pass on his wisdom.
