Welcome to football.london's Arsenal transfer news blog on Monday, August 17.

The Gunners are looking good ahead of the new season after breezing past Manchester City 3-0 in the Community Shield on Sunday. Mikel Arteta's men impressed with new signing Christos Tzolis, shining against Enzo Maresca's team in Cardiff.

Bruno Guimaraes also looked good, with the midfielder adding quality in midfield. And Arteta does not want to stop there with new signings a possibility before the September 3 deadline.

Arsenal were unable to convince Brazil forward Vinicius Junior to leave Real Madrid, while Argentine striker Julian Alvarez remains difficult to prise away from Atletico Madrid.

Now, Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is being linked with a move to north London as a possible alternative to lead the forward line. That is despite Arteta confirming Viktor Gyokeres will stay at the club.

Ezri Konsa remains a target too, as Arsenal want to bolster their defence following William Saliba's World Cup injury. Marc Pubill is another option for the Gunners' backline.

In the opposite direction, talks are said to have been held with Galatasaray over Ethan Nwaneri and Gabriel Martinelli, while Martin Zubimendi could yet make an exit. Reports suggest that Arsenal are open to selling Zubimendi for around £77m, with Chelsea among those interested.
