Everton have returned with an improved bid to sign Galatasaray star Barış Alper Yılmaz this summer.
That’s according to journalist Yakup Çınar, relayed by Super Haber, who covers the latest on Everton’s attempt.
The winger has been starring for the Turkish champions in recent year. Last season, he scored 12 goals and contributed 16 assists from 49 matches.
His performances have seen him attract interest from a few clubs, including the Toffees.
Everton submit new offer
On August 3rd, Sport Witness covered claims from Turkey that David Moyes’ side made a verbal offer of €35m for Barış Alper Yılmaz.
However, the Istanbul club turned it down. The player, for his part, dreams of moving to the Premier League.
Three days later, we relayed news Everton are preparing another proposal, and the Süper Lig winners are demanding €50m.
Yakup Çınar reports they have returned with an official offer of €41m. It’s unclear whether the latest proposal is including or excluding bonuses. Either way, it won’t matter because it’s short of Galatasaray’s €50m demand.
Everton offer insufficient
Yakup Çınar states the new Toffees bid didn’t convince Galatasaray, who would have turned them down.
He adds the two clubs are expected to meet in the coming days, without providing further clarification. This meeting could either see Everton convince Gala to lower the price or the Turkish club stand firm with their demand.
It’s unclear whether the player is open to joining the Merseyside club this summer despite having a Premier League dream. His contract lasts until 2028, and Transfermarkt value him at €30m.
It’s worth noting this claim isn’t backed up or rejected by others in Turkey so far.
Barış Alper Yılmaz’s preferred position is on the left wing and he can also operate in other attacking positions.
David Moyes has summer signing Tyrique George as the only recognised left winger in the squad. If the Premier League side decide against meeting Gala’s demand for Yılmaz, they would have to look elsewhere for another winger.
