Tottenham want new signing‘quickly’–Player keen on move but won’t‘rebel’

Tottenham Hotspur want Liverpool‘s Cody Gakpo and have taken necessary steps to find a total agreement.

The north London club have been pursuing the forward for well over two months.

Three days ago, we relayed news of Tottenham making an official approach to sign the Liverpool player.

Later that day, Sport Witness covered claims from the Dutch press that Spurs agreed on personal terms with Gakpo. An agreement with their Premier League rivals is still missing.

Tottenham want signing as soon as possible

Cody Gakpo wants to join Roberto De Zerbi’s side and is waiting for them to find an agreement with Liverpool.

Voetbal International journalist Joost Blaauwhof took to X, formerly Twitter, to report the English club want him ‘onboard quickly’. They have to convince Liverpool for this.

On Sunday, Andoni Iraola’s side beat Como 2-0 in a friendly and the Spurs target opened his scoring and assisted the second goal.

Blaauwhof says the attacker is a model professional and isn’t someone ‘who will rebel when there are transfer issues’.

Tottenham target’s Liverpool future uncertain

The Netherlands international can play in the Champions League with Liverpool. However, that won’t be possible with Tottenham Hotspur, who didn’t qualify for Europe for the new season.

Despite this, Algemeen Dagblad report the Liverpool player is keen on a move to Spurs. He’s attracting serious interest from Tottenham Hotspur mainly because of Roberto De Zerbi.

The Italian would love to have Cody Gakpo at his disposal, and his side are willing to offer €60m. As things stand, there’s no deal in place between the two Premier League sides. Therefore, the newspaper says the Dutchman’s immediate future remains uncertain.

There’s just over two weeks left in this window and the London club have to come up with an offer to convince Liverpool. He has a contract until 2030, which could make it more complicated for De Zerbi’s side.

Gakpo has 50 goals and 23 assists from 180 matches for Liverpool, of which nine goals and six assists were from last season.
