LaLiga’s Getafe have reportedly started talks to sign Stefan Bajcetic this summer after another pre-season without any minutes for Liverpool.

The 21-year-old reported early for pre-season and rejoined full training while the team was in the United States, but has since been a notable absentee from the squad.

This Is Anfield understands the Spaniard is still being carefully managed, though he is now the subject of interest from Getafe.

According to MARCA‘s Matteo Moretto on X, Getafe is working on signing the midfielder, with transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano adding the La Liga side have “opened talks.”

It is not specified whether the deal would be a loan or permanent, but with Bajcetic’s deal expiring next summer, Liverpool would want to position themselves to guarantee a fee.

That would mean either agreeing to a suitable bid for his permanent exit now, or signing the Spaniard to a new deal to ensure he does not leave as a free agent when his value could have risen on loan.

Liverpool, however, are not in a position to demand a premium fee despite Bajcetic’s talent, as he has struggled with injuries and last played competitively in May 2025.

It was previously reported by Moretto that Andoni Iraola likes Bajcetic “a lot,” but having failed to see him in action during pre-season, an exit now appears likely.

The Athletic‘s Gregg Evans previously corroborated claims of interest from a number of LaLiga sides, with Getafe, Sevilla, Rayo Vallecano, and Elche all having been linked.

A move to Getafe would mark a return to Spain for Bajcetic after leaving Celta Vigo to join Liverpool in 2020, and later joining Las Palmas on loan in 2024/25 – the last club he played competitively for.

If a permanent deal is sanctioned, the 21-year-old could be one of a few players Liverpool bid farewell to, with Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa among those with uncertain futures.
