'From what I heard' - Fabrizio Romano shares latest update on Arsenal links to Osimhen
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has played down speculation linking Arsenal with a move for Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, insisting that there is currently nothing concrete between the two clubs.
The Turkish champions have shown interest in Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri, with the Brazilian reportedly rejecting a move to Istanbul, while Osimhen's name also came up in talks.
However, a move for the Nigeria international could prove problematic for the Gunners, with his wages and transfer fee currently posing significant obstacles to a potential deal.
There has also been interest in Osimhen from Al Hilal and several Premier League clubs, but nothing is progressing at the moment.
It would therefore come as no surprise if the former African Footballer of the Year remains at Galatasaray.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano compared Osimhen's situation to that of Arsenal striker Viktor Gyökeres, who has been linked with a move to Barcelona.
"Victor Osimhen is a similar situation to Barcelona, Viktor Gyökeres at this stage. Nothing really concrete happening at this stage between Arsenal and Galatasaray. No negotiations, no bids, no conversations from what I heard," Romano said.
"At the moment, it's a quiet topic. Also, Galatasaray sources say that their understanding is that the club absolutely want to keep Victor Osimhen."
According to Romano, Galatasaray are determined to retain the services of the Super Eagles striker and would fight to keep him even if proposals arrive from interested clubs.
"Galatasaray will fight in every way, even if they receive proposals, to keep Victor Osimhen. If Arsenal will come for Osimhen, if Barcelona will come for Gyökeres, I'll be here to tell you.
"As of today, Monday morning, nothing has happened on these two players in terms of concrete club-to-club negotiations."
Under contract with Galatasaray until June 30,, 2029, Osimhen bagged a brace as The Lions were held to a 2-2 draw by Corum FK in their season opener.
