Andoni Iraola is putting the finishing touches to his Liverpool squad ahead of the Reds’ opening game of the season against Newcastle United on August 23.
The new head coach is weighing up who stays and who goes before the window shuts, with several fringe players facing uncertain futures at Anfield.

Curtis Jones remains the most advanced departure story, with Inter Milan continuing to push for a deal after the midfielder missed Liverpool’s recent friendlies.
Iraola has also been managing incoming interest, as the club works to add fresh faces to the squad before the transfer deadline.
Now another name has emerged among those set to leave this summer.
According to journalist Matteo Moretto, Getafe have opened talks to sign Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic.
A formula for the deal is currently being discussed between the two clubs, though full details of the structure have not yet been confirmed.
Bajcetic broke into Liverpool’s first team at the age of 17 in 2022 and quickly made an impression. He made his senior debut in the Reds’ 9-0 win over Bournemouth in August before continuing to feature during the early months of the 2022-23 season.
The Spaniard made his Champions League debut against Ajax in September 2022, becoming Liverpool’s youngest-ever player to feature in the competition at the time.
He made his first start for Liverpool in an EFL Cup victory over Derby County in November 2022 before scoring his first senior goal in a 3-1 Premier League win over Aston Villa the following month.
His progress has since stalled. Persistent injury problems mean the 21-year-old has not featured in a competitive match since the end of the 2024/25 season.
Bajcetic recently returned to training with his teammates and travelled with the squad for pre-season preparations in the United States. He did not feature in any of Liverpool’s warm-up matches, missing the opportunity to catch Iraola’s eye before the campaign begins.
His absence from match action, combined with the impressive form of Trey Nyoni, has pushed him well down the midfield pecking order at Anfield.
Even a potential exit for Jones is unlikely to change Iraola’s thinking on the Spaniard.
Bajcetic was born in Vigo and joined Liverpool from Celta Vigo’s academy in 2020. Getafe interest would offer him a route back to Spanish football, should the two clubs agree on the mechanics of a deal.
