With another season upon us, Liverpool have prepared comprehensively for the upcoming campaign with a pre-season involving six matches, 36 players and 11 goals.

After six games across two continents, Andoni Iraola‘s first pre-season at the helm has come to a close.

The head coach took a look at 36 different players and readily found himself stressing the need for better fitness to ensure his intense game style can be deployed from the league opener onwards.

Although results are secondary, the Reds’ summer concluded with three wins (Sunderland, Wrexham and Como), two defeats (Leeds and Monaco) and one draw (Como).

Here, we look at the numbers behind Liverpool’s pre-season across all six friendlies.

In total, Iraola used 36 players across six pre-season games, which saw him rely heavily on the club’s young players in the absence of senior starters and new signings.

Trey Nyoni was a particular standout in midfield, while Ifeanyi Ndukwe stepped up admirably to create plenty of interested watchers once his loan destination is confirmed.

But it was Dominik Szoboszlai, Giorgi Mamardashvili and Jeremie Frimpong who finished in the top three for minutes played.
