Chelsea could revive their interest in Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White, according to reports.
Daily Mail reporter Tom Collomosse has raised the prospect of the Blues making a move for the 26-year-old if they sell Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City.
However, supporters on X are very sceptical about the transfer, with many pointing out that Gibbs-White prefers to play in more advanced positions than the man he would replace:
Absolute nonsense there is no way in hell he plays next to caicedo 🤮🤮he is not for that role.

What? Morgan Gibbs-White is an attacking midfielder.

They're not the same profile.

What for? They don’t even play same position.

Can't see that one. More likely a deeper playing CMF surely. The key for me is who will partner Caicedo best.

Who could Chelsea sign instead of Gibbs-White?
It does look like Bournemouth’s Alex Scott is the preferred target in the event that Fernandez departs Stamford Bridge, rather than Gibbs-White.
A formal bid was lodged for the 22-year-old last month, but no follow-up proposal was tabled.
Scott has less than two years remaining on his contract, and he has turned down an extension to stay at the Vitality Stadium. With that in mind, you do feel that Bournemouth would sell the player if a good enough offer is made before the transfer window closes.

What is the latest on Fernandez’s future?
Despite Chelsea having set a deadline for the Argentinian’s departure for Friday last week, there is still speculation that City will step up their interest in the player over the coming days.
The decision to sell Rodri to Barcelona may accelerate their attempts to recruit a replacement, with Fernandez seemingly top of their list.
The 25-year-old’s original asking price was said to be £120m, but the Blues could potentially ask for more than that figure now with Deadline Day getting ever closer. It remains to be seen, though, how much City are prepared to pay for the player.
