Everton have made a fresh enquiry over the availability of Como winger Assane Diao as they continue to assess attacking options before the transfer deadline.
Italian transfer journalist Matteo Moretto reported on Monday that Everton had “just” asked about the situation of the 20-year-old Senegal international.
At this stage, there is no suggestion that an offer has been made or that negotiations with Como are under way. The contact does, however, put Diao firmly back on Everton’s radar after interest earlier in the summer.

Diao is not a new name at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton were linked with the former Real Betis forward earlier in the window, when Como were reported to value him at around €75m (£64.7m). ReadEverton covered that valuation in June and questioned whether a deal at that level would make sense for the Blues.
Reports subsequently suggested Everton had seen an offer of around £38.8m rejected, with Como reluctant to lose one of their most highly-rated young players.
Diao joined the Italian club from Real Betis in January 2025 and has since established himself as an exciting option across the front line.
The latest enquiry is therefore significant, but there remains a considerable distance between asking about a player’s situation and attempting to complete a transfer.
For now, Everton appear to be establishing whether Como’s position — and potentially their valuation — has changed as the final weeks of the window approach.
