Following consecutive 13th-place finishes, Everton enter the new campaign aiming to break into the top half and mount a serious push for European qualification. With David Moyes entering the final 12 months of his contract, the Toffees are seeking consistent form to turn their potential into a sustained European challenge.
Bookmakers place Everton as longshots for the Premier League title at 250/1, while offering odds of 50/1 to finish in the top 2. For fans eyeing a push toward European qualification, Everton are priced at 8/1 to secure a top-five finish.
In the market for Everton’s top team goalscorer, Beto leads the betting ahead of Thierno Barry at 15/8 and Iliman Ndiaye at 2/1.
The view from our Everton reporter, Chris Beesley
Everton will be hoping that if this season goes well, they will have a shot at qualifying for European football for the first time in a decade.
Following the 3-0 victory over Chelsea on March 21, the Blues were just three points off a Champions League qualification place but they failed to win any of their last seven matches and slumped to finish 13th for the second consecutive year.
David Moyes can reach the milestone of taking charge of more matches than any manager in Everton’s history this autumn but the slump during the run-in curtailed any new contract talks and the Premier League’s oldest and most experienced gaffer is now in the final 12 months of his current deal.
The business that the Blues have done this summer is viewed as being generally positive but not acquiring a new right-back remains the elephant in the room and given they have been actively searching for over 18 months, has now reached ridiculous proportions.
