The future of Marcus Rashford has been uncertain for several months at this point. Since returning Manchester United after his loan spell at Barcelona ended, we’re still yet to see where his final destination will be at the end of the summer transfer window.
For a while, it seemed pretty clear that one club was off the list – Barcelona. Despite a successful season on loan with the Catalonian giants, they allowed his £26 million buy clause to expire back in June [via BBC Sport].
With this in mind, it seemed that Barcelona had effectively ruled themselves out of the race. However, this may no longer be the case.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Barcelona have ‘remained in contact’ with United regarding Rashford’s current availability. As such, their interest doesn’t seem to have fizzled out just yet.
Still, Julian Alavrez remains their top target. If they cannot pry him away from Atletico Madrid’s hands, it’s possible they could resume their pursuit of the England international.
Additionally, should they wish to bring Rashford back to the Camp Nou, it will need to be on a permanent basis – United are not prepared to entertain the idea of another loan deal.
However, it is important to remember that Barca are far from the only club who have been linked with a move for Rashford in the last few weeks. According to TransferFeed, teams such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur are all in the mix.
Furthermore, teams from abroad like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, PSG, Napoli, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce could also make a move for the player.

Right now, it is hard to say. For years, audiences have mooted the idea of Rashford leaving United to move on with his career, but the Red Devils are a different club now.
Nevertheless, Michael Carrick does not seem to be sold on the idea of keeping him around. He has given him the chance to shine in pre-season, to poor results. With United set to return to Premier League football at the weekend, Rashford hasn’t found the back of the net once in their set of summer friendlies.
Rashford’s United heyday seems to be little more than a distant memory. Whatever the case might be, these are the facts – he hasn’t enjoyed a strong season at Old Trafford since the 2022/23 campaign.
To this end, it probably would be the best move for his career if he was to secure a transfer away from United. Still, this presents a dilemma of its own.
Rashford has been linked with a plethora of clubs, but none of them have managed to agree a deal with the Red Devils. While this persists, he will remain in limbo, with his career effectively on hold. This situation must be sorted out soo for the good of all parties.
