Lazio make offer for Leicester City youngster as top clubs show interest

Leicester City could be set to lose another promising youngster this summer as Serie A side Lazio have now made an offer for Lorenz Hutchinson.

Leicester City have already lost Jeremy Monga to Manchester City, while Louis Page also looks set to leave the club with Manchester United in hot pursuit.

Lorenz Hutchinson could be the next talented youngster to leave LCFC, as Lazio have made an offer for the attacker, according to Pete O’Rourke. Several other ‘top clubs’ are also said to be weighing up a move.

Leicester City opened their League One campaign with a 1-1 draw against Notts County. It was not the best start for new manager Russell Martin, who will be hoping to immediately return the Foxes to the Championship.

Hutchinson was unlikely to be a regular this season, but his potential loss is another blow for LCFC’s academy.

Who is Leicester City starlet Lorenz Hutchinson?

Hutchinson is yet to make his senior debut for Leicester City, although he did make the step up to their U21s side for some of last term. He also scored 15 goals in 15 appearances in the U18 Premier League last season.

The LCFC youngster has also represented the England U19s team, despite being just 18 years old.

Hutchinson could have been in line to make his Leicester City debut this season, with the return to League One potentially offering more opportunities for youngsters at the club. However, he would not have been encouraged by Monga’s choice to leave, with Page also looking likely to follow.

The striker does have a professional contract with LCFC, so they will be entitled to a fee, rather than just compensation.

The Verdict: Academy departures are a worry for Leicester City

While Leicester City may not be too concerned about losing the likes of Monga and Page, given they are going to Premier League sides, losing Hutchinson too would be cause for concern.

LCFC have been known for their impressive academy for some time. A solid group of players have come through their youth ranks in recent years.

But, names like that may not appear in years to come because they are being moved on before even being given a chance in the first team.

Leicester City have succeeded in the past partly due to their ability to sell academy players, but they are losing that option. Yes, they will make some money now, but not as much as they could have.

In the deals to lose Monga, Page and Hutchinson, LCFC need to ensure they have sell-on clauses, or they will be losing themselves a lot of money.
