Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur and Arizona Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur are about to test America’s media illiteracy epidemic.

The Cardinals hired Mike LaFleur as a first-time NFL head coach in February, while Matt LaFleur is entering his eighth season in charge of the Packers.

Now, the LaFleurs aren’t the first pair of NFL head-coaching brothers. Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh and New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh have been there and done that. But the Harbaugh brothers never had to deal with synonymous star players.

The Cardinals selected former Notre Dame star running back Jeremiyah Love with the third overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft this April. The Packers boast Jordan Love at quarterback. We got a glimpse at how confusing the dual LaFleurs and Loves could be problematic throughout the upcoming 2026 NFL season.

On Sunday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love is “dealing with a high ankle sprain.”

“‘LaFleur says Love will miss a week with a sore ankle,'” this Twitter user posted. “This is going to be a long and confusing season.”

ESPN and NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport quote-tweeted that post, sarcastically writing, “How about: ‘M. LaFleur says J. Love will miss a week with a sore ankle?’ Better?”

Fortunately, taking five extra seconds to write out the first name of the LaFleur or Love in question should be an easy solve. But this could become an annoying nuisance for stressed-out beat reporters and insiders on deadlines. At least the LaFleurs make up for it by providing an endless well of heartwarming brotherly content.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur surprises Mike LaFleur on NBC ahead of Mike’s debut as an NFL head coach with the Arizona Cardinals.

There will be plenty more where that came from when the Cardinals visit the Packers at Lambeau Field on Friday, Aug. 28 for the preseason finale.

Arizona will visit Harbaugh’s Chargers, while Green Bay will visit the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 of the 2026 NFL regular season on Sunday, Sept. 13.
