“I had a conversation this morning": Insanity as Liverpool plan negligent transfer move

**Liverpool are in the final weeks of the transfer window and there is no room to make errors now.**

Last summer, Liverpool sold Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen for £35m with the intention of replacing him with Marc Guehi. After weeks of back-and-forth talks with Crystal Palace, an agreement was struck, and the Englishman even conducted media duties with the Reds before a transfer to Anfield fell through on Deadline Day, leaving them stranded.

Now, it seems like Liverpool are consciously willing to make the same mistake with Curtis Jones.

As we all know, it’s the worst-kept secret on Merseyside that Jones wants to leave the club to join Inter Milan. That’s not a problem. The 25-year-old is a good player, but he’s not a starter and wants to leave, and at Liverpool, it’s always been the case that wantaway players will be allowed to follow their desires out the exit door.

What is problematic is not replacing good Premier League-level players when they are sold, and that’s exactly what is reportedly being considered at Anfield.

Liverpool will not replace Curtis Jones if he leaves for Inter Milan

--------------------------------------------------------------------

According to a claim from trusted reporter David Lynch, Liverpool are not set to replace Curtis Jones if he gets his wish and moves to Inter Milan this summer, which borders on negligence.

Speaking on the Anfield Index podcast, [Lynch said](https://x.com/AnfieldSector/status/2089352290004070576?s=20): _“I had a conversation this morning and I think, the way it was phrased to me, there is close to 0% chance of a midfielder being signed, even in the event of Curtis Jones leaving.”_

Why it’s insane to not replace Jones if he leaves

-------------------------------------------------

As already stated, Jones isn’t a player that is impossible to replace. He’s a good player, but is guilty of overplaying and just isn’t one of the very elite players in his position yet.

However, allowing him to leave without signing a replacement is negligent and borders on insanity.

If Liverpool sell Jones this summer and don’t replace him, these are their midfield options:

* Dominik Szoboszlai (top player, always available)

* Florian Wirtz (top player, more attacker than midfielder)

* Ryan Gravenberch (top player, questions over best position)

* Alexis Mac Allister (top player, questions over

* Wataru Endo (good player, not a starter)

* Harvey Elliott (incredibly unfit after Aston Villa loan fiasco)

* James McConnell (promising prospect, not PL-ready)

Keep in mind, Liverpool are also reportedly selling Stefan Bajcetic to Getafe, who admittedly is never available, but he is not included in this scenario.
