Liverpool are reportedly in talks with Valencia to sell Federico Chiesa as the Reds begin to move into gear late in the summer transfer window.
Chiesa, who signed a £150k-a-week contract to join the Reds in 2024, is now the subject of transfer interest from Valencia, as Liverpool seek ways to make room in their squad for reported incoming signings.
The Merseysiders want to bring Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye to Anfield, but cannot register them. As France and Senegal internationals, they require registration as non-homegrown players in keeping with Premier League restrictions.
However, after the arrival of Ronald Araujo from Barcelona on loan, there are no remaining NHG slots in the squad, so Liverpool need to sell at least two players to make room.
Talks are underway between Getafe and Liverpool for the sale of Stefan Bajcetic, and now it appears that Valencia have also begun talks over a move to sign Chiesa.
According to Cadena SER Valencia, the La Liga club has opened “official talks for Chiesa.”
Speaking on SER Deportivos Valencia, journalist Fran Guaita said: “VCF has opened official talks about players with a name like Chiesa.I have the impression that they’re looking for a high-quality game-changer up top who can generate market buzz in the last week of August.”

It remains to be seen how this will go down with Chiesa, who reportedly rejected Atletico Madrid, Napoli, AS Roma and Como to stay at Liverpool to fight for his role under new head coach Andoni Iraola.
Speaking recently about the arrival of Iraola, Chiesa said: “It is always a fresh start at the beginning of the year. Maybe there have been too many fresh starts. But I don’t care, I am trying to do my best for this new manager,” Chiesa told reporters.
“Last season under Arne Slot, I was trying to do my best. Last year I felt ready for a bigger role; then it depended on the coach whether he wanted me to play or not.
“Of course I wanted to play more, but it is what it is. The gaffer had his game plans, he took his decisions, I have nothing to say about that. It is football. This year, let us say it is a new chapter. There is a new manager, and I have to focus on that.”
Liverpool need to sell at least two players, so how this develops could directly impact plans to bring Barcola and Mbaye to the club.
