The Gunners have also been linked with Jarell Quansah, Jack Hinshelwood and Christian Kofane, while Gabriel Martinelli, Ethan Nwaneri and Gabriel Jesus could leave the club.

Elsewhere, Coventry City have officially confirmed the signing of former Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi on a permanent transfer from Nottingham Forest.

The 29-year-old spent the last four seasons in the Premier League with Forest, scoring 21 goals in 90 league appearances and 23 in 103 games across all competitions.

Awoniyi began his professional career at Liverpool before gaining experience on loan at FSV Frankfurt, NEC Nijmegen, Mouscron and KAA Gent.

He later moved to the Bundesliga, joining Mainz 05 and then Union Berlin on loan before making his move to the latter permanent in 2021.

Awoniyi enjoyed his best scoring season with Union Berlin, netting 20 goals, including four in the UEFA Conference League.

His form attracted Nottingham Forest, who broke their transfer record to sign him in 2022. He scored 11 goals in his first season to help Forest avoid relegation and reach the Carabao Cup semi-finals. Awoniyi has also earned 10 caps for Nigeria, scoring twice for his country.

On his new challenge with Coventry City, Awoniyi said: “I’m very happy to complete my move to Coventry City. I am very excited about this season, and I can’t wait to get started.

“I’m really looking forward to working with my new teammates, I have seen how amazing they have been last season, coming up from the Championship, they were incredible and now I am just excited to join them and get started for the new season.”

Awoniyi spent six years as a Liverpool player without making a senior appearance. He joined the Reds in 2015 after impressing for Nigeria at the U20 World Cup in New Zealand, where he played alongside Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi.

Work permit issues meant he spent most of his Liverpool career on loan, with spells at FSV Frankfurt, NEC Nijmegen, Mouscron, Gent, Mainz and Union Berlin, whom he joined permanently in 2021.

After scoring 20 goals in 43 appearances during the 2021-22 season, Awoniyi moved to Nottingham Forest, fulfilling his dream of playing in the Premier League.

His 11 goals in his first season, including a winner against Liverpool at the City Ground, helped Forest avoid relegation.
